Vincent Morgan Calls on New Yorkers to Lend a Helping Hand to Haiti

NEW YORK, NY (January 13, 2010) – New York Democratic Congressional candidate Vincent Morgan extends his sympathy to the Haitian community of New York as they reel from the shock of yesterday’s massive earthquake in their home country. He is calling on everyone who can to send contributions to help in the recovery effort.

“New York City is home to more than 200,000 Haitians. Many live in Upper Manhattan. My heart goes out to each and every one.  I urge all my fellow New Yorkers to donate generously to relief efforts so that Haiti can recover from the overwhelming devastation.”

“To the Haitian community, I say ’stay strong’.  You have suffered far too much. I pray that you have not lost faith and I know that, in the end, we are with you and God will see you through.”

The U.S. Department of State http://www.state.gov/ has established a hotline and instant donation fund. For missing family, call 1.888.407.4747. To help with relief efforts, text “HAITI” to “90999″ and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.  You can also contribute thru Wyclef Jean’s Yéle Haiti Earthquake Fund http://www.yele.org by texting the word “Yele” to “501501” a $5 donation will be added to your cell phone bill.
